This workshop with @switchmeister and @Malena_ explores tying styles and independently, ties on the floor that are simple but effective. For this workshop, we want to go a bit in depth with people who’d like to find their own tying style, or least begin to explore what the would like.
This is about giving you somewhere to go from landing in a scene, to building a scene and ending a scene. We’ll work with a handful of useful floor ties and basic shapes, then explore how to play with them in different ways. You might enjoy something slow and intimate, something playful with plenty of movement, or the pleasure of being a little mean to someone who likes that sort of thing. *nudge nudge wink wink* You might also discover that your interests change depending on your partner or the day.
Once we have some basic ties we’ll use them to explore different approaches to tying. These are starting points for experimentation; you don’t need to decide that you’re an “erotic tying person” or “sadistic” before you’ve had a chance to try things. the same goes for persons being tied as well.
For example with eroticism and intimacy, we’ll work with touch, distance, pace, and anticipation. How do you make placing a wrap feel deliberate? what happens in between the pauses?
For sadistic ropes, if you’ve been to one of our workshops, you know there’s always some element of sadism there.
For movement and playfulness, we’ll explore ties that use our interpretation of leverage. We’ll practise body handling and transitions, paying attention to how both partners contribute. Sometimes the interesting part is following a movement you hadn’t planned.
The workshop is intended for people who have some basic rope knowledge and want more ideas for using it. There will be demonstrations, guided practice, time for questions, and opportunities to switch roles. Each exercise is an invitation, with room to adapt or sit out anything that doesn’t appeal to you.
You’ll leave with a few useful ties, practical ways to adapt them, and a better sense of what makes rope interesting for you and the people you play with.
*Please note, the exercises and concepts mentioned aren’t sequential, they can all be part of one exercise at the same time*
The aim is to leave with practical ways to begin, continue, and change your tying—and more confidence to explore an idea together without needing to know exactly where it will end.
